Wahida Rahman songs.

Wahida Rahman, the dynamic actress of the golden age of bollywood films had given elegant lips on legendary songs during the 50s, 60s and 70s. She had given lips in mostly the songs sung by Geeta Dutt and Lata Mangeshkar as they contributed the most in her films.
The songs in the film Pyaasa, titled “jane kya maine kaha” composed by SD Burman and sung by Geeta Dutt is worth mentioning. Similarly Geeta Dutt’s legendary song “waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam” in the film Kagaz Ka Phool, composed by SD Burman became a landmark hit. The lyric of the song was also very meaningful. The song and the film conveyed the eternal message that performers in films are remembered as long as their films become hits, but after a period of time their contribution is forgotten and specially creators and technicians behind the screen never get the acknowledgement of their work.
In the early 60s, Lata had sung romantic songs for Wahida Rahman in different films. In Bees Saal Baad, the song “kahin deep jale kahin dil” composed by Hemant Kumar became superhit. It also carried the spooky feeling in the film which was crime-thriller where both Biswajeet and Wahida Rehman did very well.
In Guide, the songs “aaj phir jine ki tamanna hai”, “piya tose naina lage re”, etc., composed by SD Burman under the Navketan Banner became very successful. The songs in Raj Kapoor’s Teesri Kasam titled “o aa aa bhi jaa”, “pan kahi saiwa”, “mare gaye gulpham”, etc. sung by Lata and Asha became super hits. The songs were composed by Shankar Jaikishan and carried the flavour of fairs or nautankis held in the villages in India. Wahida Rahman also showed her excellent dancing skills in the film.
The other notable songs of Wahida Rahman include “phir teri kahani yaad ayi”, “kal ke sapne”, “sawan aye ya na aye” composed by Naushad. All these songs were picturised in films where she had acted with Dilip Kumar in films like Dil Diya Dard Liya and Aadmi.
It is not possible to mention the exhaustive list of songs of Wahida Rahman in a small article, but one thing is clear, due to the everlasting appeal of Wahida Rahman all these songs have become immortal over the years. The songs should be restored for their immense musical value.
