Sunny Deol and Meenakshi Sheshadri.
Meenakshi Sheshadri, one of the most educated actresses of the 80s and 90s, complimented the performances of Sunny Deol in the major films she acted with him. In Ghayal, Meenakshi played the role of a journalist had an affair with Sunny.
The film took a turn after Sunny came to know that his brother Raj Babbar was killed by Amrish Puri. The rest of the film was related to the revenge that Sunny did take against all the persons who were involved in the killing and who backed Amrish Puri in the film. Sunny previously faced imprisonment due to false charges being levied on him. Meenakshi showed her composure in the film by facing Om Puri, the police officer who was given the duty to provide security to Amrish Puri, in a tactful way.
Even in Ghatak, Sunny played the role of a person who was brought up in Benaras and came to Bombay and saw the rule of the underworld in the film. He showed courage in facing the group led by Danny and provided courage to the shop keepers and citizens who faced the tyranny of the mafia group. Amrish Puri played the role of the father Sunny and died at the end of the film. Meenakshi was very impressive in the film and supported the war against the mafiaraj in her own way.
In Damini, Meenakshi probably brought out her best. Her role was related to a daring girl who had agreed to give testimony in a case related to sexual harassment where her husband Rishi Kapoor’s family members were involved. She only received support from Sunny Deol who played the role of the lawyer who handled the case with bravery. Sunny was sublime in the film and his performance in the court opposite Amrish Puri requires special mention. Meenakshi ultimately impressed the judge in the case who reiterated the case was a historical one, and the witness was special.
Meenakshi left films in the mid-90s and the combination of Sunny Deol and Meenakshi were not seen any more. The viewers expect that Meenakhi can make a comeback and perform in character roles opposite Sunny Deol in future.
