Mallika Sherawat has lot of expectation from Hissss

Mallika Sherawat has lot of expectation from Hissss.

Actress Mallika Sherawat has a lot of expectation from her upcoming film Hissss. She had been in the bollywood industry for more than 5 years and is looking for roles which can establish her as talented actress rather than the glamour-oriented roles which she had done in the past like Murder, Maan Gaye Mughal-i-azam, etc.

Hissss had been directed by Jennifer Lynch and had been produced by Govind Menon and Vikram Singh. The film had been shot simultaneously in hindi and in English. The story was about a snake woman whose mate was captured by an American hunter. The snake woman decided to take revenge on the American hunter.

Mallika Sherawat played the role of the nagin, the snake woman. Irfan Khan played a prominent role in the film. Jeff Doucette played the role of George States in the film. Divya Dutta had a prominent role in the film.

The major shooting of the film had been done in the forests of Kerala. As a matter of fact, Kerala consists of exotic locations and also horror locations. The forest-based landscape had been used to perfection by the director of the film.

Famous special effects designer Robert Kurzman gave an innovative look of the snake woman in the film. Anu Malik scored the music of the film. Madhu Ambat was the cinematographer.

If we look at the history of bollywood films we will find that whenever films were made with the subject matter of snakes, most of them ended up being super hit films. Vaijayantimala stormed the audience with her performance in the film Nagin in 1955. Reena Roy starrer Nagin in the mid-70s ended up being a super hit venture. Sridevi’s performance in the film related to snakes in the mid-80s also did great business.

So Mallika Sherawat’s performance in Hissss can also create attention. Mallika Sherawat also wants to return back to stardom with a bang with the film Hissss. The viewers are waiting for its release later this year.

Mallika Sherawat in 2008.

Mallika Sherawat in 2008.

Mallika Sherawat had established herself as one of the leading actresses of bollywood films in the last 5 years. She had initially started as an actress who could give bold performances.

Her films like Khwaish had the bold character of Mallika embedded in them. But with the film Pyar Ka Side Effects with Rahul Bose she proved her worth as an actress who could portray diverse characters. She portrayed the role of a soft-spoken girl in the film Myth with Jackie Chan. Although the film did not have lot of dialogues, Mallika’s brief presence was appreciated by big section of viewers.

Mallika’s comedy instincts were exhibited in the films Maan Gaye Mughal-I-Azam and Welcome. Maan Gaye Mughal-I-Azam had intellectual comedy with Rahul Bose and Paresh Rawal. Mallika’s timing did work in the film in the role of the wife of Paresh Rawal, a play actor. In Welcome Mallika falsely portrayed herself to be the wife of Akshay Kumar to stop her marriage with Katrina Kaif.

In 2008, both the films of Mallika Sherawat, including Maan Gaye Mughal-I-Azam and Ugly Aur Paagli did good business. In Ugli Aur Paagli she played the role of the wife of Ranbir Shorey. Their relationship was based on the quarrel with each other. She just went hitting slaps after slaps and gave an ultimate kiss to Ranbir Shorey.

Mallika Sherawat’s success in 2008 gave her the role in the film Dasavatharam opposite Kamal Hassan in 2009. Kamal Hassan played ten characters in the film and Mallika performed as well as Asin in the film.

In 2009, Mallika is expected to continue her improvement in acting and do even better and entertain the crowds.

Mallika Sherawat had transformed herself.

Mallika Sherawat had transformed herself.

When Mallika Sherawat initially joined bollywood films, she was considered as an actress who was only inclined to expose herself. Her films Murder and Khwawish were related to body exposure.

Although Murder became superhit and Reema Lamba, better known as Mallika Sherawat became a hot star in 2004, she still required films which could allow her to show her acting talents. She also received international recognition with her performance in a small role in the film Myth, opposite Jackie Chan.

From the film Pyar Ke Side Effects opposite Rahul Bose, viewers started recognizing her as a talented actress. She was sublime in the film Aap Ka Suroor, where she played a negative role. Also her dance number in the Abhishek Bacchan’s Guru titled “maiya maiya” brought her prominence.

She did a great job in the film Maan Gaye Mugha-i-Azam. She was the wife of stage actor Paresh Rawal. She got attached with Rahul Bose, a member of the audience. Rahul Bose used the entire acting crew of Paresh Rawal to address terrorists. In his operation Mallika Sherawat played the major role. Mallika’s lips in the song “maan gaye mughal-i-azam” entertained the crowds. The song was made in the form of -a satire, and the play Mughal-i-Azam also created with the idea of addressing political questions of the relevant period.

In Welcome, she pretended to be the wife of Akshay Kumar, on the request of Paresh Rawal. Paresh Rawal never wanted his relative Akshay Kumar to marry a girl from a criminal family. But he entered into an affair with Katrina Kaif, the sister of underworld dons Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor. When Mallika Sherawat wept before Feroz Khan, the boss of both Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, the marriage was cancelled. Although the role was short, Mallika Sherawat did very well.

She was sublime in the film Ugly Aur Paagli, opposite Ranbir Shorey. The film was related to betting, and Mallika had given slaps after slaps to Ranbir with one kiss only in a comedy drama.

In 2009, Mallika Sherawat featured in Kamal Hassan’s action drama Dasavatharam along with Asin. The other film Dhakreys Bed had convinced the viewers that Mallika can act, and given a proper script, can do better than other actresses of the contemporary period.

She had transformed herself into a promising actress. The viewers expect her to continue the good work and not sign cheap roles where only exposure is required, not acting.

Review of Dasavatharam.

Review of Dasavatharam.

Kamal Hassan had always created anxiousness among viewers of bollywood films every time he had came up with new ventures. Because his acting went beyond dialogue throwing, his dancing, action stunts, make ups had all contributed in his films in the past.

The same thing had happened in the film Dasavatharam. Kamal Hassan had played ten different roles and in all those roles had shown his unique style of performance. Director KS Ravikiran had cast Kamal Hassan in the first story based on 12th century. R. Nambi was a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu, and never believed in Lord Shiva. King Koluthunga insisted R. Nambi to say namashivaye which he declined to say. So he was tied to the statue of Lord Vishnu and thrown into the sea and killed. His wife Kothai (played by Asin) also killed herself.

After the death of the first avatar, the next part involved Dr. Govind Ramaswamy, a biotech American Scientist who invented a bio-warfare weapon which was extremely deadly. As his superior officer wanted to sell it to wrongdoers he destroyed it. In the process the rest of the eight characters portrayed by Kamal Hassan came into being.

They included Keith Fletcher, a former CIA Officer, George W. Bush – the former US President, Chinese Martial Art Teacher – the fighter, Balram Naidu – Telegu Police Officer, Avatar Singh – a Punjabi Pop Singer, Krishnaveni Pati – an old woman, Vincent Poovagaran – the dalit activist and Kalifullah Khan, a tall Afghan.

Previously Sanjeev Kumar had the record of playing nine different characters in the film Naya Din Nayi Raat which he did efficiently. Kamal Hassan’s effort in the film matches the performance of the legend actor. It had been shown that Govind escaped with the bio-weapon to India and had been followed by Fletcher and his tamil-interpreter wife Mallika Sherawat. The rest of the characters Martial Art Teacher – the fighter, Balram Naidu – Telegu Police Officer, Avatar Singh – a Punjabi Pop Singer, Krishnaveni Pati – an old woman, Vincent Poovagaran – the dalit activist and Kalifullah Khan, a tall Afghan, etc., just followed them.

The performance of Asin and Mallika Sherawat was brilliant. The music of Himesh Reshamiya had nothing new. The camera work requires special mention in respect of the sequence related to tsunami. The film has all the elements of entertainment and will be a blockbuster.

Review of Maan Gaye Mughal-I-Azam

Review of the film Maan Gaye Mughal –i-Azam.

Last year the film Maan-Gaye Mughal-I-Azam was released. It was a comedy film directed by Sanjay Chhel where Paresh Rawal, Mallika Sherawat and other actors played important role. The music was composed by Anu Malik. The film had reflections of the comedy film Jane Bhi Do Yaaron if seen from a critical angle.

Paresh Rawal and his wife Mallika Sherawat was shown to perform in professional theatre. Initially it was shown that a play was enacted on story of the underworld in Mumbai. Then due to resistence from the local police and few mafias the play was stopped.

Instead of that play a historical play on Mughal-I-Azam was launched. In that play Paresh Rawal played the role of Akbar-the-great. Mallika Sherawat played the role of Anarkali. Everyday when Paresh Rawal used to start his introductory speech, Rahul Bose, a member of the audience used to enter the greenroom and speak with Mallika Sherawat. The communication resulted in an affair.

Later it was shown that Rahul Bose was an intelligence officer and he used the entire drama group to help him to reveal the existence of ISI agents in India. Rahul Bose asked Mallika Sherawat to meet the ISI agent and develop intimacy. After that the entire drama group was taken to the place where the ISI agents operated to get the RDX that was planned to have been used.

The RDX was recovered and the casualty that could have happened was prevented. Everything happened in a comedy manner. Through the comedy sequences the message relating to the unrest that was existing in India in the early 90s was depicted.

The film did not get box-office success inspite of the fact that comedy films got best reviews in 2008. One of the reasons may have been the intellectual part of the film which was not understood by the general mass.

Even if the commercial result of the film was unsatisfactory, films like Maan-Gaye-Mughal-I-Azam should be made in future for its intellectual value.

Happy birthday to Mallika Sherawat.

Happy birthday to Mallika Sherawat

Mallika Sherawat
Today, 24th of October is the birthday of Mallika Sherawat. All her admirers and viewers of bollywood films wish her happy birthday and expect her to continue to explore herself in new roles in bollywood films.

She was previously called Reema Lamba and had changed her name to Mallika after joining films. After making a decent debut in the film Khwahish, she impressed the viewers with her performance in the film Murder. The film was based on the story of Unfaithful. She acquired international recognition within a short period of time and got a role in Jackie Chan’s film The Myth.

Mallika Sherawat
She got a scope of showing her acting skills in the film Pyar Ke Side Effects where the lead role was played by Rahul Bose. She also acted in a horror movie directed by Ram Gopal Verma titled Darna Zaroori Hai. The film was based on the existence of evil spirits and the fear relating to them in the minds of ordinary human beings. Although these films are discarded by some section of the society who never believe in ghosts, the films had created public interest over the years and have a lot of suspense and melodrama which are enjoyed by some section of the viewers.

Mallika Sherawat
She got a different type of role in the comedy film Welcome. The film had a number of stars including Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and others. She matched the comedy performance of all the leading stars and did well in the film. The songs in the film were successful including the ones like “welcome, welcome”, “inshah allah”, etc.

Mallika Sherawat
In 2008 also Mallika played important role in comedy films like Ugly Aur Paagli and Maan Gaye Mughal-i-azam. In Ugly Aur Paagli, the film depicted her aggressive attitude towards the hero and the hatred ended up in an affair and Mallika was identified with giving slaps one after the other.

Mallika Sherawat
Man Gaye Mughal-i-azam had nothing to do with any historical depiction of a period film but it was related to serio-comic events and the unfolding of those events. The problem of Mallika Sherawat lies in the recognition that is required to categorize her in the list of leading actresses of contemporary films. Her item numbers had become more popular in the recent years than her major roles. For example the dance in the song “maiya maiya” in the film Guru had claimed public recognition. Unless she gets memorable roles like the one played by Rani Mukherjee in Black, her glamour can be reduced to only catchy sequences, not remarkable performances. The viewers expect her to reorganize herself for challenging roles in new bollywood films.

But actually it was her husband who had killed Imraan Hashmi. The song “kaho na kaho” which was inspired from the Amr Diab’s song “tamaly maak” became very popular.

Mallika acted also in the film Myth, opposite Jackie Chan. With hit films like pyar ke Side Effects, Aap Ka Suroor and Welcome, she had proved her acting capability and directors started casting her in strong roles in addition to item numbers. In Welcome she had acted opposite senior actors like Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar and hit pair of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif.

Mallika Sherawat
In 2008, her film Ugly Aur Pagli, opposite Ranvir Shorey, had been released. Ranvir shorey, an engineering student entered into an affair with Mallika.
